- 18:41 i still dont get twitter #
- 20:12 doesn't yet quite understand what this whole twitter thing is... but people keep telling me i should use it #
they did however let go someone in our dept... she worked in the listings sections and she has worked for the county a lot longer than i have... she was always late to work and never did a good job... so they really did base it off of job performance... i also heard someone in inspections who has worked for the county for over 13 years was let go as well... so it wasn't based on seniority.. which is good new for me... i just hate it for all the 27 people who lost their job
but we did learn that after this fiscal year which ends june 30th... we will all have to take 80 hour unpaid furlough days off... but i don't care cause i'm just glad that i still have my job

the county is cutting 27 jobs tomorrow and i don't know if i'm one of those 27 people losing their job
from our local newspaper:
New Hanover to lay off 27 county employees Tuesday
Cuts expected to save $1.6 million
Last Modified: Monday, March 16, 2009 at 12:33 p.m.
On Tuesday, 27 New Hanover County employees will lose their jobs.
County Manager Bruce Shell will meet with department heads Tuesday morning to discuss the layoff plans, part of the county’s efforts to fill a budget hole dug by the struggling economy.
The layoffs will help the county save $1.6 million.
Shell declined to discuss details of the layoffs on Monday, but said the “gut wrenching” decision did not come lightly.
“This is what we tried to avoid,” he said. “My greatest effort has been to try and prevent a reduction in force.”
Tuesday will be the last day of work for the 27 employees, who will receive six weeks worth of severance pay.
The layoffs are only one part of the county’s comprehensive effort to save millions of dollars as tax and fee revenues shrink.
Check back later today and Tuesday’s Star-News for more on this developing story.

*sings* to the east side
okay so not quite east... more west of wilmington... which would be downtown wilmington.
mike and i have been talking about moving... we like the place we are in... but being in a town home having a neighbor only a wall away is getting old... esp if you have an old lady as a neighbor who likes to complain about the tv being on late at night because her bedroom is right next to our livingroom... i can see where she is coming from... she is old and sleeps early and our tv isn't loud... its just right next to her bedroom... so yeah... its just annoying... even though she hasn't really been complaining lately... but its only a matter of time... or she died in her sleep... one or the other
so mike and i have looked at houses and NOT condos downtown.... we did at one point look at condos downtown that are really nice that we have fallen in love with but again... its like living in an apartment... only you own your space... so yeah... we want a house house.
some houses we are interested in
515 s 3rd st $499,900
3 Bedroom and 3.5 Baths

Very cute on the outside and the backyard is pretty awesome

yes it needs some work in the back but come on... its huge and it has a small river and bridge... with a little work this backyard could look great.
520 s 2nd st $485,000
2 Bedrooms and 2.5 Baths

okay so its a litle smaller but its soooo cute and it has a fence *i'm a dork i know* but downside... it only has 2 bedrooms... the townhome we are in now has 3... one for mike and i... one as mike's office and the other as my office with a futon for guests *which we just got a new frame and mattress which is sooooooooooo comfy* and i think it will be very crowded if we make that second room an office for both of us AND a guest room... so we'll see.. and the backyard isn't anything to write home about

meh... its alright but it does have one of those awesome old bathtubs with legs on them

i don't know why but i have always loved these kind of bathtubs
anyways these are the two that we only really started looking at.. but of course still many more to see... but who knows... one of these two could be our new home for us and the bunnies
OR we could be going through a phase like a year or so back when we started looking at condos downtown but then backed out of it... but with me being full time with the county and getting paid a lot more and very soon being out of debt *yay finally* and mike making about 40 percent more *with all of his promotions* than he did when he first moved into this townhouse... and mike did buy this townhouse about 5 years ago before housing cost went through the roof... he could start the asking price for a lot less than people around this area are asking for and still sell it for more than what he paid for it... so i don't know... we just might

for some strange reason... whenever i clear up my friends list on any online community thing... i always tend to feel better *shrugs* i don't know why
oh and side note... i didn't delete anyone off of myspace... i just deleted my account... as soon as some 50 year old woman hippie at my work kept bugging me about adding her back on myspace (i still don't know how she found my profile... i have it all set to private including my name when people type it in search) i knew it was time to get rid of it :P plus i never used it or updated it
another side note.. where are all my xbox live friends that i play with!?! they never seem to be online when i'm around... i think my schedule is just out of whack for everyone else on my list *sigh* i miss playing with you guys :(
